Surgery

Caleb's surgery went very well. It was at scheduled for 12:45 on Monday and they actually came and took him in 15 minutes early unlike last time it was a 3 hour delay. The whole procedure from start to finish took about two hours. He woke up about a half an hour after surgery and we ready to get out of there. He was trying to pull his IV out and walk around. They let him walk about a half an hour after he woke up because he wouldn't sit still and he did fine. They were surprised because they gave him what is called a caudal block which is just like an epidural but in only numbs from the waiste down not your stomach down. We head back up to Chicago Friday so they can remove the dressing and then I believe he has an appointment in a couple of weeks after that... hopefully his last. He seems to be going to the bathroom just fine and is back to his normal activity. Caleb doesn't seem to be in to much pain unless he tries to get up on a chair really quick then he kind of stops and cries for a few minutes. Hope all is well with everyone else... Cant wait to get out and play.

update

This week had been very busy. On Wednesday we headed up to Chicago once again to find out when Caleb was going to need surgery again for his hypospadias that didn't heal completey right the first time. They scheduled his surgery for Monday the 7th! We will find out what time it will be tomorrow sometime early morning. Today we had to go to the doctor because he has been running a temp on and off for the last three days and it has to be gone by Monday before they will do surgery. He has had ear infections for the last 2 months and thats why he has had a fever on and off. If his ears are not better by the 14th of this month we will be scheduling a time to do tubes in his ears :(. We will keep everyone updated on how he is doing after surgery. It is going to be an outpatient surgery so he will come home the same day. The procedure takes about an hour verse the four it took before. Im not to sure what exactly they do to close up his fistula but we will know more once it gets closer.

Is Spring Ever Going To Come

We've been pretty busy these last couple months from Calebs birthday to everyone getting sick. Just as Caleb and I both got over ear infection we catch a cold:( thankfully Casey hasn't caught it yet. Other then that everything is going good around here Casey is back to work at the pines and I will also be working there in a couple of weeks. I was burnt out at the nursing home and need to take a break from that for a while. Caleb spends a few hours a day out at Rob and Lynnette's. It is just amazing to see how much more vocal he is after only going there for 2 weeks. I haven't taken many pictures of Caleb but here is a few. Hes up to 22 lbs and just got both his molars on the top. He is working on two more teeth on the top so has been drooling like crazy.

1 Year Old!

Wow I can't believe it has already been a year. To look back and see everything that has happened to our lives in the past year just amazes me. We have been through so much but it was all worth it. Right after I had Caleb the nurses asked me if it was all worth it and all I could think about was how painful it was but now I can definately say he has been the best thing that has entered our lives. He has brought us closer then we will ever be and through obsticles we thought we would never have to face. Here are some recent pictures of our family and Caleb!

Santa Clause!

Santa visited the Union Savings Bank in Mt. Morris today so Casey and I took Caleb down to see him. My sister and her son also came along with us. Caleb didn't know what to think when Santa held him so he didn't sit still for very long so we do not have a very good picture of him.

Wow! time is flying by. We have been really busy this week. On Sunday we moved into a three bedroom house on Center Street. WE are just finishing putting away everything. Caleb is getting so big. He is up to 20 lbs and is 27 1/2 inches long. He can take about 20 or so steps before he decides its time to quit, but he is getting there. For halloween we dressed him up as a turtle.

Pumpkin Patch

We took Caleb to the Selmi Pumpkin Patch in Rockfalls on Friday. He didn't really know what to think about the pumpkins and the petting zoo. We took tons of pictures. We have been pretty busy lately with school and work for me and just work for Casey. We are planning on moving into a house November first. That will be exciting to get out of this little apartment.

Caleb is getting a tooth!

After many many times saying Caleb is never going to get teeth, last night we found a tooth poking through. On Sunday everyone was asking if he had any teeth and now we can finally say yes! It is just through the skin so it is hard to see. He is obviously not going to be fussy when he is teething, because we didn't even know it.

Keeping up with Caleb

Caleb is learning so much everday. Since he figured out he can sit up on his own, he now stands up to the chair and couch. He has been army crawling for 3 weeks and started to crawl on all fours the other day. Today we gave him a cracker and he loved it. He is recovering very well from surgery and everything is healing like it is suposed to.

Thursday, August 30, 2007

Grandma Jo came over wednesday to see Caleb and was asking if he could get himself into a sitting position and we had told no. To our surprise this morning Caleb decided he was going to sit himself up all by himself. He kept doing it all day!

Surgery

Yesterday Casey, Caleb and I went to Chicago for Caleb's surgery. It was suposed to be at 12:30 in the afternoon but the doctor was held up in another surgery and Caleb didn't end up getting in there until a little after 3. The procedure took about four hours from the time they put him under til he woke up in the recovery room. He did such a good job. They had him pretty medicated so he woke up and kept falling back asleep for a while but never cried. He woke up at midnight and ate then he slept through the night. We were able to come home this morning a little after nine or so. Since then Caleb has been a little irritable but nothing we can't handle!

We will be posting more pictures of us on the jets skis and Caleb playing in the sand. He didn't care to much for the water. It was a bit cold for him. We all had a blast.

Saturday, July 14, 2007

Casey, Caleb and I have been really busy lately and haven't had time to post a blog for a while. Caleb had a doctors appointment in Chicago last week to schedule his surgery. After that we went to the Huntley outlet mall and went shopping. We ate a really nice restaurant up there and then came home. Now we are just getting ready for a well needed vacation. Here are a few pictures. Caleb is growing so much everyday it is amazing. He's rolling all over the place and starting to talk a lot more. He can say ba ba, da, ma, and ga (not that he knows what they mean right now) but he will eventually know.

4 Months Old!!!

Today Caleb had his four month check up and his second GI appointment. He now weighs 13 lbs 15 oz. and is 25 1/4 in. long. Both doctors said he can now start baby food. For one week we have to start him on barley cereal instead of rice because of his constipation and then after one week we can start veggies then fruit. We just finished giving Caleb his first cereal. He didn't really know what to think of it but did very well. His GI problems are slowly getting fixed. Caleb has to go back in 2 months to see if anything has changed. He used to get 7.5 ml of a laxative a day and now we have cut that in half, so hopefully next time he won't need it anymore!
